This year, Toyota celebrated its 55 years of motorsport heritage by making a return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the hybrid TS030 race car. The automaker is now hinting its future motorsports plan, releasing a video that highlights its storied history on the track.
Toyota Motorsport is looking towards the future, and promises by the end of this year, we’ll get a closer look at its European motorsport base (Toyota Motorsport GmBH), which includes a Toyota GT86 Race Edition project and a Toyota Yaris R1A rally car.
In a tweet, Toyota Europe said to keep an eye out for a major announcement next week, hinting that a clue to what will be revealed is contained in a blog post here.
TMG, headed out of Cologne, Germany, has transformed itself into a unique and successful high-performance development and testing facility – it has two wind tunnels – since 2009. Past rumors have indicated TMG may be launched as a new Toyota performance brand, while the post also seems to hint at the possibility of a Toyota GT 86 racing program or a return to WRC.
